{"id":570,"date":"2018-05-27T20:19:37","date_gmt":"2018-05-27T19:19:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/glastonburypropertynews.co.uk\/?p=570"},"modified":"2018-05-27T20:19:37","modified_gmt":"2018-05-27T19:19:37","slug":"where-is-mendips-millionaire-row","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/glastonburypropertynews.co.uk\/?p=570","title":{"rendered":"Where is Mendip&#8217;s millionaire row?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A article recently published on the BBC website (article <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/business-44237967\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>) reported that householders are increasingly likely to live on millionaire row as sales of \u00a31m-plus homes rose to a new high in England and Wales in 2017.<\/p>\n<p>A total of 16,119 property sales for \u00a31m or more were completed last year, up 5.4% from the previous high in 2016.<\/p>\n<p>Over the past decade, most were sold in London, but sales have doubled in the East of England &#8211; the biggest increase of any region in England and Wales.<\/p>\n<p>University cities such as Cambridge and Bristol have seen \u00a31m-plus sales surge.<br \/>\nRising house prices and demand prompted by investment in these areas has pushed many properties&#8217; sale prices above the \u00a31m threshold.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mendip&#8217;s millionaire row<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Looking at the picture locally shows that over the last 10 years there were 68 transactions for 62 properties for \u00a31m or more with the most expensive being Marston House in Marston Bigot which sold for \u00a34.9m.<\/p>\n<p>The closest Mendip has to a millionaire row is Vicarage Lane in Norton St Philip where 3 properties have exchanged hands for over \u00a31m. 7 of the transactions were in the Norton St Philip area. The 68 transactions over \u00a31m are dominated by properties in the Frome area with Rode home to 4 of the \u00a31m plus transactions.<\/p>\n<p>In the Glastonbury and surrounding area 5 transactions exceeded \u00a31m:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Parbrook Lodge &#8211; Parbrook &#8211; \u00a31.61m<\/li>\n<li>Whitegates\u00a0&#8211; West Pennard &#8211; \u00a31.35m<\/li>\n<li>Whitelawn\u00a0&#8211; Butleigh &#8211; \u00a31.16m<\/li>\n<li>Holmans\u00a0Place &#8211; Butleigh &#8211; \u00a31,134,825<\/li>\n<li>Old\u00a0Bakehouse &#8211; Parbrook &#8211; \u00a31.06m<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Only 3 properties in central Wells reached \u00a31m in the last 10 years.<\/p>\n<p>Street had just 2 transactions over \u00a31m, Overleigh Court and 55 Overleigh at \u00a31m and \u00a31.45m respectively.
