The last in a series of articles looking at the most expensive streets in Street and Glastonbury in which I look at the top 3.
3 – Ham Street (Baltonsborough)
Average price paid £397,347 – Ham Street was once home to poorhouses and today is one of the most expensive streets to live in and is home to the village hall and the primary school. Ham Street is also home to Date Palm Developments who are the market leader in the production of date palm plants by tissue culture and have successfully supplied plants to over 25 countries. The property sale that has the highest recorded price in Ham Street to date is The Manse, which sold on 06/08/2010 for £905,000. The most recently recorded transaction in Ham Street was Glebe House, which sold on 29/07/2016 for £743,000.
2 – Newtown (West Pennard)
Average price paid £420,706 – Newtown, or Nova Placea as it was once known, has had the largest concentration of houses in West Pennard for centuries and today has 71 properties. The most expensive recorded transaction in Newtown to date is Whitegates, which sold for £1,350,000 on 26/08/2016. Whitegates has 5/6 bedrooms, an amazing 28 ft. kitchen, tennis courts, an indoor swimming pool complex and 1.5-acre gardens. The property sale that has been recorded in Newtown most recently was Arcadia, which sold for £548,500 on 07/09/2016.
1 – Barton Road (Butleigh)
Average price paid £515,576 – So here it is – the most expensive street in the Street and Glastonbury area. There are 31 properties in Barton Road. The most expensive transaction that has been recorded in Barton Road is Whitelawn which sold for £975,000 on 12/08/2014. Whitelawn was described by the estate agent at the time as ‘Stunning detached house set in approximately 1.4 acres’ and has a drawing room with two inglenook fireplaces. The most recent house purchase in Barton Road was Oddway Top, which sold for £676,500 on 13/01/2017. The cheapest property sold in Barton Road in the last 10 years was 63A which sold for £200,000.
