We continue our top 20 least expensive streets in Street and Glastonbury with numbers 12 to 10..
12 – Mayfield Close (Glastonbury)
Average price paid – £130,272. Mayfield Close was built by Hampshire based Matthews Developments now liquidated. Mayfield Close is a development of 11 houses 1 and 2 bedroom houses sandwiched between Heritage Court and Morrisons supermarket and just a short stroll from Magdalene Street. Recorded prices paid have ranged from £120,000 (number 5 sold on 02/05/2014) to £156,000 (number 7 sold on 30/06/2017). The developer had put forward two names for the development Tannery Close and Mayfield Close but on the grounds that there was already a Tannery Close in nearby Street, Mayfield Close was the name chosen by the Town Council.
11 – Turstin Road (Glastonbury)
Average price paid – £129,800. Turstin Road is part of the Windmill Hill development referred to in number 14 in this list (Whiting Road) and was built around 1956. There are 34 properties in Turstin Road of which half are social housing properties. The property sale that has the highest recorded price in Turstin Road to date is 28, which sold for £195,000 on 18/07/2016. The least expensive house purchase in Turstin Road is 15, which sold for £19,040 on 22/01/2001. The most recently recorded transaction in Turstin Road was 33, which sold for £123,000 on 01/09/2017. Turstin Road like nearby Whiting Road was named after an Abbot of Glastonbury – Turstin was the first Norman Abbot of Glastonbury appointed in 1082.
10 – The Cross (Street)
Average price paid – £129,712. The Cross consists of 22 properties. The earliest recorded transaction was for 23 which sold for £139,950 on 07/07/2008. The most recent transaction was for 4, which sold for £150,000 on 07/10/2016. The most expensive transactions were for 2 and 4 which each sold for £150,000. The least expensive transactions were for 1 and 23 which each sold for £100,000 in 2012 and 2013 respectively.
The series will continue with number 9 so keep guessing.
